What is Profhilo?

 

This innovative and rejuvenating procedure has been scientifically proven to tighten, lift and hydrate the skin. PROFHILO ®  is indicated for tissue remodeling and improvement of skin laxity of the face neck and décolletage. PROFHILO ®  promotes the restoration of firmness, tone and elasticity of tissues in an authentic way, leading to a DYNAMIC MULTILEVEL REMODELLING of the extracellular matrix in terms of elasticity and support,as well as maintaining and promoting the normal vitality of Fibroblasts, Keratinocytes and Adipocytes.

 

Profhilo is injected into the superficial layer of skin and provides firm, plump, dewy, healthy and brighter looking complexion through intense hydration. With one of the highest hyaluronic acid concentrations on the market (64mg), Profhilo not only moisturises, but transforms sagging tissue and is clinically proven to improve hydration and texture from the inside out. 

 

The product which comes preprepared in 2x2ml syringes, is injected into precisely mapped injection points on each side of the face, also known as bio-aesthetic points (BAP). The BAP method includes 10 injections, 5 on each side, spread evenly across the face or neck. To begin the Profhilo journey, a course of two treatments, one month apart is required. The treatment is fully completed after two months, at which the hyaluronic acid has diffused into the tissue and safely settled into the dermal layer of your skin. The effect will last 6 months. treatment can be repeated every 6 months, depending on the quality of the skin, level of ageing, patients can choose to follow this maintenance treatment. Final results are visible usually 2/3 weeks post treatment, patients often report noticing an increase in luminosity, skin tightness and improved texture. Gradual rejuvenation allows for both a curative and preventative approach to skin health and ageing.

 

What is a skin booster?

Teoxane Redensity 1 is used for the redensification and rehydration of the face, neck and neckline. What is the difference between skin boosters and profhilo?

 

Profhilo and Skin boosters are very similar in terms of chemical compounds. Although skin boosters contain the same main ingredient – HA, they are very different. Profhilo contains a higher concentration of HA (64mg) and it also uses a different technology to provide a unique full face approach. For skin boosters, they are partially crosslinked to allow it to have both properties of being able to give the instant ‘glow’ and a long-lasting effect. The skin boosters we most common utilise in clinic contain HA alongside vitamins, amino acids and antioxidants, whereas profhilo is purley HA. 

 

Profhilo is thermally cross linked in a hybrid complex of high and low molecular weight HA which may not give as much of the instant glow effect but has the ability to bio-remodel tissue through the gradual release of HA. This allows it to achieve a more long-lasting lifting effect with higher ability to stimulate collagen and elastin. By stabilising HA with a thermal energy and avoiding formation of BDDE cross-linking bonds, the product tends to spread quickly into the surrounding tissue – this property is perfect so that minimal points are required to cover the entire face and the risk of forming any lumps is low.

 

Profhilo lasts 6-8 months and is a 2 part treatment, whereas skin boosters require 3-6 sessions depending on concerns. Skin booster results last an average of 3-6 months per treatment. Skin boosters can be used to target specific areas, whereas profhilo targets a wider area.
